Originally Released in 2001,
Big AL set forth the launch of Ready Mix Records with 'Moody' and it became one of the label's most successful releases to date with support from Chris Fortier, Anthony Pappa,
Satoshi Tomiie amongst others.
In 2007, with collaboration from MonthlyRelease.net & House-Pacific.com, we resurrected this first official catalogue release by offering it up to the public and gave an opportunity to a new wave of musicians to showcase their budding talent by awarding the best entries of a remix contest the chance to appear on the label.
As Ready Mix Records continues to grow steadily, it is in our mission to find & expose new talent by giving them a chance. Out of 240 worldwide entries, we present these young gents' winning entries as interpretations of this classic rendition starting with Romania's
Mistia grabbing the #1 position.
Scripca Stefan Alexandru (aka
Mistia) has been involved in sound engineering for the past ten years and has worked on remix projects for local Romanian artists in all genres. mistia takes 'Moody' and notches up the energy level by giving it a tribal drive, a consistent emotive edge by jacking up the synths and a unique party flavor.
At #2 from Lithuania,
M&D Substance are Darius Beinoravičius and Mantas Stonkus who successfully managed to put forth a progressive remix. Using all elements of the original with exquisite taste and programming, this remix takes 'Moody' to new melodic heights.
Hailing from our own Canada,
Pete Houle has successfully proven his worth as a dj in the past decade and has now migrated to the studio to implement his experience and passion for music. Having played events alongside Derrick Carter, Doc Martin and Richie Hawtin, Pete has a defined knowledge of being able to work a crowd and does not disappoint as we feature two of his remixes at the #3 & #4 positions.
At #3, The Breakfast Mix offers a completely different arrangement pleasantly using all the track's original elements with broken beats, echoing synths
and a reworked chanting vocal that fills up the air and
entrances the space around the listener.
At#4,
Pete's Aquatic Mix slowly creeps out of a subtle intro and
steadily locks into a chunky groove with snappy highs, deep
atmospheric sweeps and a sampled vocal that is diced up and
cleverly thrown around the entirety of the track.
